Mass Action June 2009 DBN

Media Release / 2009-05-18.

Black Gun Owners Mass Action.

Following talks, -and as implied recently-, the Black Gun Owners Association of South Africa intends mounting another mass-action to publicly express its members and supporters sentiments towards the Firearm Control Act.

The march, estimated to be in the region of 10,000 people, will held in Durban on Friday the 19th June 2009. National Chair of BGOASA, Mr Abios Khoele and supporters shall tender a list of grievances which need to be addressed by the Minister of Safety and Security.

  1. CFR Director Bothma should be immediately replaced, as he is being untruthful regarding the crisis in the FCA’s implementation, as there is, in fact, a serious backlog of applicants.
  2. All of the One Million (CFR’s figure) -confiscated firearms must be audited and a full report tabled to BGOASA and the public.
  3. The June 30th deadline for licencing renewal shall be rescinded.
  4. BGOASA demands immediate talks with the Minister of Safety and Security.
  5. The Criminalisation of Law-abiding, taxpaying Gunowners must be halted.
  6. This Arbitrary Confiscation of Property by Government without Compensation must cease.
