What
kind of government do we have in South Africa?
One may
well ask what kind of government deliberately promotes criminality
by giving criminals victims who come with a government backed guarantee
of being unarmed?
What kind
of government deliberately disarms its citizens without any evidence
that doing so will in any way improve the safety of citizens?
What kind
of SAPS has advised and colluded with government to disarm citizens
when they have no evidence that disarming law abiding citizens will
reduce crime or the supply of guns to criminals
BGOASA
stands for valid laws and believes that constructive dialogue with
government can resolve the problems government has brought on itself
and citizens of South Africa by pandering to foreign funded hate
organisations.
Ever citizen
suffers from crime in so many ways as it impacts directly on our
lives and well being. Nobody wants to live in a fortress and
be prepared to face criminals every minute of the day. Welcome
to the reality of South Africa where one can be killed for a cell
phone or no reason at all.
What
the SAPS should take note of:
Police
officers are perhaps the most visible faces of the law, and one
of the few groups authorised to use force when dealing with the
public. Despite the pivotal role that officers play in preventing
and controlling crime, and in promoting justice, the science base
is often inadequate regarding the value, fairness, and legitimacy
of police practices and policies.
Fairness
and effectiveness in police work go hand in hand. People obey the
law not simply because they are afraid of being punished or because
they believe the law is morally right, but also because they believe
that the law and its enforcement are fairly administered. Scientific
evidence contradicts any assumption that policing which is fair
and restrained will be ineffective in controlling crime.
It is interesting
to note that the SAPS have treated firearm owners with contempt.
Firstly in fraudulently depriving them of compensation and
in threats of criminal charges, fines and imprisonment for 10 or
more years for failing to renew a licence issued for life.
This is not to mention the multitude of incompetent and inadequate
handling of applications, inspections and advice.
How many
police officers are pushing FCA paper? How many man hours
are being wasted? How much it is costing and what benefit
the SAPS can prove will be reaped by the public? Why do you
not know the answers to these questions?
The most
important one to BGOSA is how much crime could be prevented if the
SAPS were instead investigating crime and arresting criminals who
have committed crimes. A 6% conviction rate is abysmal and
any other government would be ashamed of this record of incompetence.
